How Long Does it Take to Grow a Beard?

How Long Does it Take to Grow a Beard?

The average growth rate of a beard is around a half inch or 12mm a month. To put that in perspective the average adult male can grow a six inch beard in a year. This is very general, and we would like to help you breakdown the specific variables of this. Including: age, products, lifestyle, and areas of growth.

Age - The growth rate of your beard greatly depends on your age. This is mainly due to your body's production of the testosterone DHT and how sensitive your body is to that DHT. This is what gives males features such as a deeper voice, chest hair, and male pattern baldness. Most men will reach their peak beard growth in their late 30s and early 40s. If you are frustrated with your beard growth in your teens or 20s, please keep in mind it will continue to get better.

Products - Variables like age are out of your control, but there are areas you can control to help you reach your max potential beard growth. Proper use of good quality beard products will help you reach that max potential.  Beard products can promote blood flow circulation to the follicle, which will bring the nutrients and hydration to the spots of the hair where they really need it. Good quality beard products will also make the beard journey more enjoyable and allow for you to trim or shave less.

Lifestyle - There are many aspects of your lifestyle that can positively or negatively impact how long it takes you to grow a beard. The heathier you are, the faster your beard will grow.  This includes things like a well balanced diet, getting enough exercise, drinking enough water, lowering your stress, and taking the proper supplements.  A few key supplements that help with beard growth would be biotin and collagen.

Areas of Growth - With talking about beard growth in general we want to keep in mind that each part of the beard grows differently. Generally the fastest and longest growing areas would be along the jawline and chin area. The more north or south you go from there will almost always result in slower and shorter growth. Your cheek hairs will likely be your shortest and slowest. This is one thing to keep in mind when planning out the best style for you.

Now sit back and enjoy that luscious man mane of yours, while you look and smell great!
